LONDON - Trends and modernizations in the sports-technology football industry are rapidly growing. There are so many innovative products that aim to tackle the problems that teams, coaches, and players face on a daily basis, making the most popular sport in the world even more enjoyable.
With soccer players spread across the field, effective and instantaneous communication with players evades even the top coaches in the world. They are left with no choice but to scream, shout, and jump from the sidelines in the hope that their simple message might reach a player 100m away.
There has been some individual efforts, using several approaches and "tricks", by the top coaches around the world to overcome this communication problem. In 2012, in the game between Real Madrid and Barcelona, Jose Mourinho gave his defender, Pepe, a piece of paper with instructions, and asked him to pass it on to his striker, Karim Benzema.
In a similar incident that took place in 2019 in the German Cup quarter final game between FC Augsburg and RB Leipzig, Augsburg’s coach, Manuel Baum, gave his captain, Fredrik Jensen, a piece of paper with instructions.
Some coaches used more creative approaches to tackle this problem. In 2005, in a friendly game between Real Madrid and the MLS All-Stars in the United States of America (USA), Vanderlie Luxemburgo, then coach of Real Madrid, asked his captain, Raul Gonzalez, to wear an earpiece during the whole game so that he could communicate tactical instructions to him.
Armony Sports is a Sports Tech Company that is looking to solve all these problems while providing much needed innovation and modernization to the football world to accompany recent technological advances such as Goal-Line Technology, Video Assisted Referee (VAR), and the allowance of technology in the technical area. While the sports-technology football industry is rapidly growing, at this time there is no one fulfilling the specialized category of player-coach communications. Mohammad Malkawi, CEO and Co-Founder of Armony together with his team of industry experts, have created the world’s first and only coach-player wireless communication system for football.

Founded in February 2018, Armony has spent the past two years developing strategic relationships, fine-tuning its approach, and building out its team in advance of releasing its technology to the market. In 2019, it engaged in successful test cases with several teams around the world. The test cases were aimed at determining the viability and feasibility of the product, as well as providing Armony with invaluable insight and feedback as it pushes forward toward production and release in 2021. The test cases allowed the players and coaches to communicate efficiently and instantaneously throughout the various stages of the training sessions and games.
After being named one of HYPE Sports Innovation's 2019 Next Unicorns, Armony went on to participate in the HYPE/ FC Köln Accelerator program that culminated in a presentation at SPOBIS in January 2020. Following that success, Armony was named as one of only 16 start-ups to present at the coveted World Football Summit Startup Cup in July 2020. Despite the global pandemic, Armony has continued to push forward with its new technology at a time when it might be needed more than ever.
Armony initially attempted to tackle this problem via an Armband that provided instantaneous and direct communication between the coach and his/ her players. After several successful test cases and exhaustive feedback from industry veterans, Armony continued to innovate and iterate and has developed a game-changing partnership with Advanced Sport Instruments (ASI), a world-leading developer of sport performance and tracking solutions.
